Approximately 6 years ago a young lady ventured to Indianapolis, Indiana where Rock Steady Boxing offers an Affiliate Training Camp Program to teach the amazing “Rock Steady Method” to fight back against Parkinson’s disease. This young lady, as most of you can figure out is Deirdre, or as we know her, is our coach Dee.
Over the years she has worked tirelessly through 4 or 5 different facilities and a couple outdoor areas, moving equipment and apparatuses to accommodate our workout for that day.
I met Deirdre back in 2019 at the Parkinson’s Walk at Springbank Park.
Shortly thereafter I joined Rock Steady Boxing.
I know this was the best thing that I have done to help me to go through my journey with Parkinson’s.
I can honestly say that Deirdre has always shown me nothing but a positive side with her outlook on the Rock Steady Boxing Program.
She is always cheerful and works with us through the workouts. I also know that there are many hours spent on setting up our workout schedules for each day. Always a variety to challenge our minds.
Now, the reason for this presentation.
Way back in 1995, we where given a trophy called “The Paul McMillan Award”. We were told that we could present it, to whomever, for whatever, and whenever we wished to.
There has only been 6 people over 26 years to have held this award and this year, “2021”, the McMillan family has chosen to present it to our coach Dee, one I’m positive you know, gives from the heart. She genuinely cares for each and every one of us. We are blessed to have such a loving coach.
She will hold it for one year and then it will be replaced by a plaque.THANK YOU DEIRDRE FOR SHARING YOUR LOVE WITH US
